8 Ways to Speak Your Truth

A WEDNESDAY MASTERCLASS IN AUTHENTIC COMMUNICATION
After grounding our foundations on Root Tuesday, today we move up into the center of expression. The Throat Chakra is the gateway for your internal world to meet the external. If you’ve been struggling with speaking with clarity, here are eight ways to unlock your voice and clear the air.

  1. Say Your Affirmations
    Before you talk to the world, talk to yourself. Look in the mirror and speak your affirmations loud and clear. Repeat them to reinforce your right to be heard and always remember that your voice matters. So, speak your truth with ease and never hesitate to be an honest communicator.
  2. Take a Soothing Sip
    Nourish your vocal cords with warm, comforting herbal teas. Try peppermint, ginger, lemon or slippery elm teas with a spoonful of local honey to loosen up your voice for the meetings or phone calls you’ll have today. When you prep your Throat Chakra for the day, it can make difficult conversations easier to navigate.
  3. Dress Blue
    Look in your closet and pull out your turquoise, royal blue, or aquamarine colors today. Blue is the color of truth and tranquility and wearing it serves as a visual reminder to keep your communication clear and kind. If you wear it near your throat, like a silk scarf or a bold necklace, you’ll activate that energy center even more.
  4. Listen Actively
    When we think about the Throat Chakra, we know it has everything to do with communication but what we forget is the fact that communication also involves active listening. Challenge yourself by listening more than you speak today. By fully listening to what others say without planning your response, your words will be more intentional and impactful.
  5. Vibrate with Sound Therapy
    “HAM” is the chant for Throat Wednesday. Feel the vibrations from within by chanting, humming or singing as the sound effortlessly carries away vocally-energetic blockages. You don’t have to sound like Beyonce or Lizzo, you just need your voice to put your own unique vibration out into the universe.
  6. Practice Neck-Releasing Movement
    Physical tension in the neck and shoulders may signal a blocked voice. Perform some gentle neck rolls and yoga poses like the Fish Pose or Lion’s Breath to open the throat area and release suppressed energy. Today, prioritize movements that engage and activate your 5th energy center.
  7. Eat Blue-Hued Antioxidants
    Incorporate blue-toned foods when you eat today. Blueberries are obviously the top choice but you can also benefit from eating purple foods and other darker colored foods today. These include your concord grapes and blackberries. Hydrate with coconut water or alkaline water to keep the ether element of this chakra flowing freely.
  8. End Your Day with Gratitude
    End your day by having a 10 minute journaling session. Focus on the things you’re grateful for or might take advantage of- your voice, the pen and paper your writing on, your ability to express- jot it all down as freely as you can. That way, you can reflect on how meaningful your expression truly is.
