THE WAY I SHINE: SOLAR PLEXUS SUNDAY

WHY SUNDAY IS THE SECRET TO YOUR WEEK

Many people’s Sundays revolve around church or relaxation, which is completely fine especially if it’s needed. Other people experience anticipatory anxiety also known as the “Sunday Scaries” where they dread the upcoming work/school week. But here at The Lady H Way, we flip that script. Sunday isn’t just the end of the weekend, it’s the ignition for your week! By aligning Sunday with the Solar Plexus Chakra, we move from a state of passive discomfort into a state of active intention. This article is your introduction to my “The Way I Shine” philosophy. By the time you’re done reading it, you’ll know about the ancient wisdom of the third chakra, the science behind yellow-hued nutrition, and why activating your physical core is an effective way to strengthen your psychological boundaries.

WHAT IS THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA

The Solar Plexus, or Manipura in Sanskrit, translates to the “City of Jewels”. This glowing energetic core, located in the middle of the torso, is the luminous center of personal power, self-confidence, willpower and personal identity.

It is the third chakra and is associated with the element of fire. And just like a real fire, it needs to be tended to. If the fire is too low, it’s a lot less powerful and vibrant. If it’s too high, it creates an excessive and sometimes unbearable heat with the potential to burn everything in its path. If you feel indigestion, fatigue, a knot in your stomach or struggle with procrastination there’s a good chance your Solar Plexus needs a reset.

HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA

I’d be lying if I said I felt extremely confident and powerful every minute of every day in my life but there are things I like to do when I’m feeling like my Solar Plexus needs a boost. One of the easiest ways is to simply wear yellow. Yellow is a vibration full of energy literally lighting up whatever room it’s in. Ever wonder why they use the color yellow for traffic signals, safety gear and warning signs? It’s because people pay attention to it. So, whenever you feel like commanding attention, throw on some yellow and let yourself shine!

Another simple thing I like to do on Solar Plexus Sunday is to eat yellow food. Bananas, pineapples, lemons, yellow bell peppers and squash are all great examples of naturally pigmented (carotenoid) fruits and vegetables that can be used to uplift your mood. Ginger root has anti-inflammatory benefits that may help tame the fire within as well.

I also do ab exercises to keep my Solar Plexus activated, although this one isn’t so easy (lol). It takes a lot of hard work to keep that core strong but you can start with a few yoga poses to ease into it. Planks and boat poses are some of my go tos and I’ll throw in some crunches too. When you become a little more comfortable, you can try full on sun salutations. Keeping your core fit and strong can boost your confidence on a whole new level.

One of, if not the most helpful thing you can do to take care of your Solar Plexus is to get some sunlight! This one may be a bit obvious but it has serious benefits. Improved mood, vitamin D production and sleep regulation are just a few of the many ways sunlight helps all of us. So let some sunlight in or get outside and absorb it directly. Remember that even too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, so always balance this out with sun safety practices to avoid skin damage.

YOUR WEEK STARTS IN THE SUN

When you finish your Solar Plexus Sunday, you aren’t just “ready” for Monday- you are transformed. You’ve fed your body light, strengthened your core and wore the perfect color to reflect your inner power.
