WHY WEDNESDAY IS FOR RESONANCE
We’ve spent the beginning of the week building our fire, flowing with our creativity and grounding our roots. Now, we reach the bridge. At The Lady H, Wednesday is dedicated to the Throat Chakra- the center of communication, integrity and self expression. If you’ve ever felt a “lump in your throat” when you wanted to speak up, or if you find yourself “people-pleasing” by saying yes when you mean no, your Wednesday alignment is your medicine. The Way I Express isn’t just about talking; it’s about ensuring the vibration you put out into the world matches the truth you hold inside.
WHAT IS THE THROAT CHAKRA?
The Throat Chakra, or Vishuddha in Sanskrit, is the fifth chakra and it translates to “especially pure”. It is located at the center of the neck and acts as a funnel between your heart’s feelings and your mind’s thoughts. This energy center is associated with the element of ether or space. Ether is invisible, unlike the previous elements, making it a field through which sound travels.
When your Throat Chakra is balanced, you speak with a “resonant” voice. You are a great listener, you are honest without being cruel, and, funny enough, you are comfortable with silence. When your Throat chakra isn’t balanced, your body may manifest physical signs such as a sore throat, thyroid imbalances, or tension in the jaw. You may also have a fear of speaking in public, shyness, faking your opinions to fit in, constantly gossiping, or experiencing a complete inability to find the words to describe your feelings.
I know you may be thinking, what in the world kind of exercises is she about to tell us to practice on Throat Chakra Wednesday, and trust me, I understand the intrigue. But since this particular energy center is housed in the neck and shoulders, I focus on my back and shoulders since it’s all directly connected to the lungs and breathing. I like to do breathing exercises like Lion’s Breath too. This is when you stick out your tongue and exhale with a loud “ha” sound, just like a lion. It also helps to perform neck rolls and shoulder openers just to release tension from that area. My favorite thing to do on Wednesdays is to sing, though. I sing whatever my heart desires and I chant and hum. It creates a soothing vibration in my throat that helps “clear the pipes” for the day’s meetings and conversations.
You may not know this but blue is the rarest color in nature. Of course you see it in the sky, the ocean, and some flowers, insects and birds, but when it comes to food, you don’t see it too much. Inserts blueberries. Blueberries, and other dark fruits for that matter, are jam packed with antioxidants that support the immune system. To soothe the vocal cords, try cornflower or blue lotus petal infused tea. This creates a calming and relaxing sensation perfect for journaling which also great to do on this day. Try writing with a blue pen or keeping a blue crystal like aquamarine or turquoise for some extra inspiration.
YOUR VOICE IS YOUR POWER
My philosophy of The Way I Express challenges you to stop being a passenger in your life and start being the narrator. You realize that your words have the power to create your reality. You are heard, you are clear, and you are resonant.
